LEAGUE RULES  2023/24

 

1.Team & Players Registrations


a.The annual subscription for each team will be £20.00 – to include £10.00 toward the cash raffle on

   Finals Night - which will be paid before the League starts.

b.Only registered players may play in the League.

c.No player under the age of 15 years may register to play.

d.No player may sign for more than one team during a season except by transfer. Transfers will only

   be accepted if the player has NOT played MORE THAN 2 League games for another team. A

   player may transfer only once during a season.

e.A new player may be signed on the night of a match*. The registration fee must be:………

(i) sent to the Secretary at the earliest opportunity (but within 1 week), or

(ii) left with the match card for collection by the Secretary.

 

*NOTE: DETAILS OF ANY SUCH PLAYER MUST BE SHOWN IN THE SPACE

PROVIDED ON THE RELEVANT RESULT SHEET ON THE NIGHT.


f.Any team playing an ineligible player will have two points deducted from their score FOR EACH OFFENCE.


2.League fixtures.


a.All matches to be played on a Monday night as per fixture list.

b.(i)   Matches to start no later than 8.30 p.m. Unless mutually agreed by both Captains to start slightly later.

   (ii)  Reserves to be nominated no later than 9.30 p.m.

   (iii) Teams must turn up with a minimum of FIVE players or they will forfeit the match 5-0.

   (iv) Any team failing to turn up for an away match shall be fined £10.00 to cover the cost of the

        food [unless at least 24-hrs notice given to opposing Landlord/Landlady]AND shall forfeit

        the match 5-0.

(v) Arrangements can be made, in exceptional circumstances only, to re-arrange a scheduled

    fixture providing both Captains agree and the Committee is in agreement.

c. If a team turns up with only 5 players, they will forfeit 1 ‘singles’ game & 1 ‘doubles’ game.

d.No matches to be played after the scheduled date of the last league match of the season.


3.Playing area.


A) The board shall be 5’8” from the bull’s eye to the floor and 7’9¼” from the oche to a point on the

floor that is level with the face of the board.  The dart board to be used in any match should be

acceptable to both Captains.  If not, the Chairman, Secretary or Treasurer should be contacted to

get an inspection made.  The board lighting should also be of an acceptable standard

 

B) The Oche to be permanently shown with no limits to its length.

 

C) The scoreboard should be on the same wall as the dartboard, no more than 2 feet away and should

be clearly visible to the players.


4.The League.

 

There will be one Division for the season. Teams will play each other team 2 times.


5.The Match.

 

A) The match shall consist of six games of ‘singles’ and three games of ‘doubles’. The ‘singles’

games will be played before the ‘doubles’ games. [See also Rule 5b]

 

Captains shall draw for the order of play.  Each player must be ‘drawn’ out, unless by mutual

agreement of the Captains. The ‘singles’ games shall be drawn first, in a ‘blind’ draw from the

players nominated to play in the ‘singles’, followed by the draw for the ‘doubles’.

 

B) Each player to throw alternatively with the opponent.  The visiting player to have the start in the

1st leg.

All the ‘singles’ games are best of 3 legs 301, ‘double in’ [and ‘out’.]

‘Doubles’ games are the best of 3 legs 501, ‘double in’ [and ‘out’]. 50 to count as double 25.

In the event of the game being one leg each, the players to throw first will be decided by the

toss of a coin – NOT play ‘nearest the bullseye’.  The coin must fall flat on the floor.

 

C) The method of scoring shall be by subtraction.  Each players remaining score to be shown

prominently on a scoreboard (showing scores attained with each throw is optional).  No darts

should be moved until the chalker has finished adding the score up.

 

D) The chalker or Captain/Vice-Captain may inform a player of the double they require for game-shot

- if asked.  No bystander should tell a player what score is required.

 

E) The official score card must be completed with the score clearly shown for each game.  The card

must be signed by both team Captains.

 

F) The match results must be with the League Secretary by Wednesday p.m. following the match.

G) These can be eitther delivered to the designated Committee member….or these can be collected by prior arrangement.

 

H) Two points will be awarded to the winning team.


6.Player-of-the-Year.

 

For each ‘singles’ game played, a player will be awarded points based on the result of the game….

ie 2-0 = 3pts, 2-1 = 2pts, 1-2 = 1 pt, 0-2 = 0pts. [‘Doubles’ games DO NOT count toward PoY]

 

Points will also be awarded for games in which a player selected to play does not play due to the

opposing team cancelling the game, or because the opposing team does not have sufficient players

to allow him/her to play.


7. End-of-season League Table Results.

 

In the event of the top clubs finishing the season with the same number of points, the club winning

the most games will be declared Champions.  If the number of games won is the same, the team

winning the most legs will be declared Champions.  If the clubs are still level, then the best

matches between them shall determine the  Champions.  If they are still level, there will be a play-

off on a neutral board to determine the Champions.  The  play-off will be the same as for a normal

match.


8. League Cups/Trophies.

 

Prizes will be given to winners and runners-up in League competitions, and Player of the Year..

The prizes for winning / runners-up teams will consist of:

i) a cup/trophy to be returned to the League at the end of the season, and

ii) a cup/trophy to be retained by the pub/club. (As agreed at the 2022 AGM)

Prizes WILL NOT BE GIVEN to individual team players

 

The cups/trophies are the property of the League and shall be held by the winner for one season.

 

Winners are responsible for the safe-keeping of the cups until they are returned back to the League

Secretary.

[ If any Cup/Trophy is returned in an unacceptable condition then the team returning it will be

held liable for the cost of any repair/replacement]


9. Complaints procedure.

 

All disputes, wherever possible, should be resolved by the team Captains on the night of the match

to both sides’ mutual agreement.  All unresolved complaints to be sent in writing to the Secretary

within 3 days of the match concerned.


10. Gambling.

 

Gambling on games/matches shall not be acceptable.


11. Finals night.

 

£10.00 from each teams’ registration fee will be put towards cash prizes for the raffle.


12. AGM.

 

All teams to be present at the AGM…..or to have registered their vote, with the League

Secretary, on the proposals to be heard at the AGM.
