SUMMER LEAGUE RULES 2024
1. Team & Players Registrations
a. There is no annual subscription for each team. Player registrations are free.
b. Only registered players may play in the League.
c. No player under the age of 15 years may register to play.
d. A new player may be signed on the night of a match*.
*NOTE: DETAILS OF ANY SUCH PLAYER MUST BE SHOWN IN THE SPACE
PROVIDED ON THE RELEVANT RESULT SHEET ON THE NIGHT.
2. League Fixtures.
a. All matches to be played on a Monday night as per fixture list.
b. Matches to start no later than 8.45 p.m.
c. Players to play 1 single and 1 double game only.
d. Teams must turn up with a minimum of four players or they will forfeit the match 9-0.
e. Arrangements can be made, in exceptional circumstances only, to re-arrange a scheduled
fixture providing both Captains agree, and the Committee agrees.
f. If a team turns up with only 4 players, they will forfeit 2 ‘singles’ game & 1 ‘doubles’ game.
g. No matches to be played after the scheduled date of the last league match of the season.
3. Playing Area.
a. The board shall be 5’8” from the bull’s eye to the floor and 7’9¼” from the oche to a point on the
floor that is level with the face of the board. The dart board to be used in any match should be
acceptable to both Captains. If not, the Chairman, Secretary or Treasurer should be contacted to
get an inspection made. The board lighting should also be of an acceptable standard
b. The Oche to be permanently shown with no limits to its length.
c. The scoreboard should be on the same wall as the dartboard, no more than 2 feet away and should
be clearly visible to the players.
4. The League.
a. There will be one Division for the Summer League. Teams will play each other team 2 times.
5. The Match.
a. The match shall consist of six games of singles and three games of doubles. The singles
games will be played before the double’s games. [See also Rule 5b]
b. Captains shall draw for the order of play. Each player must be drawn out, unless by mutual
agreement of the captains. The singles games shall be drawn first, in a blind draw from the
players nominated to play in the singles, followed by the draw for the doubles.
c. Each player to throw alternatively with the opponent. The visiting player to have the start in the 1st leg.
d. All the singles games are best of 3 legs 301, double in and out.
Doubles games are the best of 3 legs 501, double in and out. 50 to count as double 25.
e. In the event of the game being one leg each, the player/s to throw first will be decided by throwing 1 dart each for ‘nearest the bullseye’.
f. The method of scoring shall be by subtraction. Each players remaining score to be shown prominently on a scoreboard (showing scores attained with each throw is optional). No darts should be moved until the chalker has finished adding the score up.
g. The official score card must be completed with the score clearly shown for each game. The card must be signed by both team Captains.
h. The match results must be with the League Secretary by Wednesday p.m. following the match. These can be either sent by text, e-mail or delivered to the designated Committee member.
i. Two points will be awarded to the winning team.
6. End of Season League Table Results.
a. In the event of the top clubs finishing the season with the same number of points, the club winning the most games will be declared Champions. If the number of games won is the same, the team winning the most legs will be declared Champions. If the clubs are still level, then the best matches between them shall determine the Champions. If they are still level, there will be a play- off on a neutral board to determine the Champions. The play-off will be the same as for a normal match.
7. Complaint’s Procedure.
a. All disputes, wherever possible, should be resolved by the team Captains on the night of the match
to both sides’ mutual agreement.
b. If the dispute cannot be resolved on the night you should contact the committee via phone, the match should be halted until further notice.
c. All disputes dealt with by the committee are deemed final once a response has been made. No further action can or will be taken.
8. Gambling.
a. Gambling on games/matches shall not be acceptable.
